The Restoration of Puncak Route to Travel Bandung from Jakarta

Puncak Route is an old route connecting Jakarta and Bandung in the past. Almost all passengers vehicle passing Puncak to travel Bandung before the coming of Cipularang toll road. When Cipularang toll road officially opened as the best toll road connecting Bandung and Jakarta together at the same time with Asia Africa Conference in 2005.

Suddenly, all fleets of buses, travel companies and other passengers vehicles change their route to the new toll road of Cipularang. The remaining restaurants, cafes, souvenirs shops along the Puncak route become bankrupt because no more visitors while offering best experience for tourists. At the meanwhile, the variations of food offered in the old route are more variative like in Bogor, we can find Talas. In Puncak and Cipanas, we can find Ubi. In Cianjur, we can find Manisan. All are traditional foods. Unfortunately, on Weekends, the route is crowded and jam because people from Jakarta passing it to rest in Puncak.

On weekdays, we can try the old route to experience full view from Jakarta to Bandung. First, we can visit Bogor Botanical Garden along the way. Second, we can visit Taman Safari. Third, we can rest and enjoying view in Puncak Pass. Fourth, we can visit Gunung Padang Cianjur. Fifth, we can buy traditional food Manisan in Cianjur. Then the rest is travel Bandung.

To follow Jakarta Bandung itinerary via Puncak, it is good to leave Jakarta at 5am so we can breakfast along the journey. It is started with pickup from any point in Jakarta then travel Bogor, breakfast and visiting Bogor Botanical Garden. The next destination is Taman Safari then Puncak Pass. In Puncak Pass, we can see mountain view. We can lunch in Puncak or to continue our travel to Cipanas then Gunung Padang Cianjur. After Gunung Padang we continue our travel to Bandung with stop in Cianjur.

So, today we have three alternatives to travel Bandung from Jakarta:

• By using fast train for the fastest travel time
• By using car via toll road when there are too many cargo that we bring
• By using car via Puncak to enjoy and experience full and total tourist attractions between the two cities
